If you find that your minis suffer from the harsh glare of your photography lights, or you need a portable, fixed backdrop, then a photo box such as this one might be your solution.
For my revised photo setup, I now use a Nikon Coolpix 3100 digital camera, a step up from the old Olympus (all Nikon digitals are known for their superior close-up "macro" photography abilities).
There are some things about myself that I'm still trying to figure out, then there are those things which I'm already quite sure of.
I like to call this project my paint "stadium." The need for it arose when I started purchasing lots of new paints but which kept falling over en masse when the table got knocked.
The techniques below should be tested on a scrap piece of material like that which the miniature is made of. Use at your own risk.
